We’ve had immersive travel experiences available via photo and video sharing apps for some time. However Google Map’s 3D immersive view of London (and other major cities yet to come) is taking this to a new level. This guide from the Evening Standard gives an explanation of how to explore this feature: How to use Google Map’s 3D Immersive View in London.

Now I know this isn’t going to be the same as actually visiting at least it will help will planning any trip especially if you are wanting to know how accessible places are at the time of doing your research.

I’m yet to see how accessible this solution is however as it is a visual medium. It certainly won’t provide the same multi sensory experience as actually being there. It is still just immersive not interactive.

Or what is next on Google’s plans?
